Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 10

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 10_*

*_Their Messengers said: Can there be any doubt about Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you so that He may forgive some of your sins and give you respite for an appointed term. They said: You are but human beings like ourselves! You want to turn us away from that which our forefathers used to worship; then bring us some clear proof.(10)_*

The Messengers try to clear the doubt of the disbelievers about the message being sent by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ *They point to the heavens and the earth as witnesses to convince them that His being is the only Lord of mankind and the whole universe, doubting about this sounds totally peculiar and unacceptable.* _Everything in the heavens and the earth testifies to the truth of Allah Azzawajal being the Creator and Originator of all. *The heavens and the earth are two very clear signs of Allah Azzawajal’s existence.* A mere reference to them is sufficient to quickly help any straying person come back to his senses. The messengers do not add anything to this quick reference, as they know it to be sufficient._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the enormous Grace and Mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la wherein HE SWT *calls personally to every human being to believe in HIM* so that HE SWT gives them respite while they reflect and begin to take action by turning to Tauheed to avert HIS punishment.

–To understand that the mushriks of every age believed in the existence of Allah Azzawajal and acknowledged that HE SWT was the Creator of the heavens and the earth, but they did not accept the message, its logical result, that HE SWT alone was entitled to their worship.❗ That is why the Messengers asked them: Do you have any doubt about the existence of Allah Azzawajal being the sole Lord of the universe?

–To understand and thank Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la for sending Messengers from the Human race itself which makes it easy for us to follow and practice the religion by following them. *Instead the disbelievers object to this choice and make of it grounds for suspecting the validity of the message.* _They claim that what the messengers call on them to believe in is a mere wish to turn them away from what their forefathers worshipped. They do not bother to ask themselves why the messengers should wish to turn them away from that. All ignorant societies are rigid. Hence people of such societies do not reflect on the true nature of what their forefathers worshipped, and why they objected to such false deities. Nor do they think about the nature of the new call. Instead, they ask for a miracle to force them to believe._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and continue to shower HIS Grace and Mercy upon by keeping us on the straight path. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 9

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 9_*

*_Have the stories not reached you of those who came before you – the people of Nooh, ‘Ad and Thamood, and those who came after them? No one knows them but Allah. Their Messengers came to them with clear signs, but they put their hands to their mouths and said: Indeed we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and indeed we are in grave doubt about that to which you are calling us.(9)_*

The Ayah addresses the disbelievers of Makkah directly reminding them of the lineage of Messengers sent by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la to various nations to bring them on the straight path.‼️ _These nations who took to the road of ingratitude as against Allah Azzawajal’s blessings and went on opposing and disbelieving in face of the call of the Messengers with clear signs and evidence. As a consequence of their rejection they were subjected to the wrath and punishments of Allah Azzawajal. Although some have been preserved and many of these events are not preserved in the pages of history, but they are definitely known to Allah Azzawajal._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the word *شَكٍّ Shakk= grave Doubt* used by the disbelievers towards the message of Allah Azzawajal. Their doubts about the truth of religion were based on blind opposition, not due to studying and researching it logically and we find such confrontations every day around us.‼️ *Thrusting hand into the mouth* is an idiom which means being enraged and expressing amazement. It shows their intolerance and perplexity and a bit of anger by the disbelievers towards the message. They were outspoken in their denial of the divine message.

–This Ayah gives an important *moral booster to the Da’ee* that such confrontations are not new and they have been going on for periods earlier. _This method of narrating a story or historical account is often employed in the Qur’ān. It serves to bring the historical account alive. We see here Allah Azzawajal’s noble messengers following one another, and confronting all mankind who had given in to jāhiliyyah. The gaps between generations and communities disappear, while the great truths stand out without being tied to a specific time or place._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to learn from the past generations and strengthen our resolve to move ahead on the path of Tauheed. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 8

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 8_*

*_And Moosa said: Even if you are ungrateful, you and all who are on earth together, verily Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.(8)_*

The Ayah makes a reference of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) and his people here to warn the people of Makkah of the consequences of their ingratitude towards this favor of Allah Azzawajal that HE SWT has raised Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from among them. This was a timely warning, for at that time they were showing ingratitude by rejecting that message. They were, therefore, warned to learn a lesson from the miserable condition of the Israelites, which was the result of their ingratitude to and rebellion against Allah’s favors.‼️

The words *شكر(Shakar) and كفر(kafar)* can be compared here. There is nothing in the middle of it, if you are not thankful, then you will actually be disbelieving. This is like Allah Azzawajal’s saying in Surah Baqarah:152

*_So remember Me and I shall remember you; give thanks to Me and do not be ungrateful to Me for My favours.(2:152)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la is free of all needs, and HE SWT worthy of every praise.‼️ _Even if all inhabitants of the earth become ungrateful to Allah Azzawajal it is not going to cause any loss to HIM. As for HIM, HE SWT needs no praise or gratitude for Himself. HE SWT is Independent. HE SWT is beyond that. HE SWT is intrinsically Praised and deserving of praise. If we do not praise HIM, the angels do and so does every particle of this universe. Acts of obedience do not add to HIS dominion and acts of disobedience do not detract from it, for HE SWT is perfectly self-sufficient, praiseworthy in HIS essence, names, attributes and actions. HE SWT has no attributes but attributes of the utmost praiseworthiness and perfection, HE SWT has no names but the best of names and HE SWT does no actions but actions of the utmost goodness._

— To understand that *Indeed it is human life that is elevated through thanking Allah Azzawajal for HIS grace.* _People’s souls are purified by turning to HIM, and by giving thanks where thanks belong. They are reassured when they establish a bond with the ONE who bestows abounding grace._ They do not fear that blessings are withdrawn. They do not feel heart-broken when they miss something they would have liked. Allah, the Most Gracious, is there and HE SWT bestows HIS grace in abundance. Such grace then is increased when people show their gratitude.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain grateful for all the favours and save us ingratitude and disbelief. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 7

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 7_*

*_And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed: If you give thanks, I will surely give you more, but if you are ungrateful, verily My punishment is indeed severe.(7)_*

The Ayah describes the reward Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la attaches to gratitude and HIS punishment for ingratitude.‼️ Prophet Musa(AS) reminds his people to be grateful for the blessings of freedom they have received at the hands of Pharoah and show their gratitude by becoming obedient. The word *تَأَذَّنَ (ta’adhdhana)* means *making known or announcement (give news).* That is to convey the message earnestly. *So this is great announcement from Allah Azzawajal which is sure to happen.* _Notice that Allah Azzawajal does not specify or limit the capacity of what the increase will be. HE SWT does not say if we’re grateful, then HE SWT will increase us in imaan, or wealth, or health. Allah Azzawajal left it *unlimited,* and one of the reasons is perhaps because the potential of being a truly *grateful ‘abd is almost unlimited.* The greatest example of all is Rasulullah salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, who used to pray so much that his feet would become swollen. When asked as to why he prayed so much, he ﷺ said:_

_❛Shall I not be a thankful servant?❜ 【Sahih al-Bukhari 6471】_

Concluding the Ayah Allah Azzawajal says *_But if you are ungrateful, verily My punishment is indeed severe._* – there is warning here which should alert a person falling into acts of disobedience and ingratitude that the blessing bestowed upon him may be taken back or left to remain unutilised.

*_Act of the Day is_* to understand that Allah Azzawajal is never desperate for our gratitude, but it’s to remind ourselves that nothing in this world truly belongs to us. What we have and what come and go from our lives is all due to Allah SWT.‼️ *Gratefulness essentially implies three things:* _First that for everything he gets, man must consider it a favour from Allah and not from anybody else; secondly a feeling of indebtedness and gratitude must be generated in his heart; and thirdly he should adopt an attitude of loyalty, worship and obedience towards his real benefactor._ When the slave adopts the attitude of gratefulness towards his Master, then he becomes deserving of more rewards.

— *Denying Allah Azzawajal’s grace can take many forms.* _For example, omitting to thank Allah SWT for it or refusing to recognize that it is HIM who has bestowed it, and attributing it to one’s own knowledge, expertise, hard work, or intelligence, as if these are not part of the grace Allah SWT bestows on HIS servants._ *It may also take the form of misusing or abusing HIS blessings*, as when these are used to behave arrogantly when dealing with other people or to satisfy evil or corrupt desires. The severe punishment threatened here may include being deprived of Allah Azzawajal’s blessings, either by removing them literally, or by removing their effects on one’s feelings.

–To reflect that We all have blessings. *But the ability to recognize a blessing is in itself the biggest blessing.* How can water quench you, if you can’t drink? How can medicine cure you, if you never swallow? What is the benefit of a nutrient that’s never absorbed?
Learn to see, recognize, and absorb the blessings already surrounding you, and you will become the most blessed.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la help us to remember HIM, to be grateful to HIM, and to be content with what HE has given us. We ask Al-Wahhab to put barakah in the blessings that we have, and grant us what is good for our Deen, dunya, and akhirah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 6

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 6_*

*_And [remember] when Moosa said to his people: Remember Allah’s blessing upon you, when He delivered you from the people of Pharaoh, who were subjecting you to grievous torment, slaughtering your sons and letting your womenfolk live; in that was a great trial from your Lord.(6)_*

The Ayah describes the way Prophet Musa(AS) carried out the command of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la by reminding his people of the *Days of Allah Azzawajal* during which they were liberated from the salvery and persecution of Pharoah.‼️ *The torment and persecution kept visiting on them time after time, with little reprieve.* _One of the ghastlier features of that torment was the killing of the male but not the female population as a means of preventing them from increasing in number. This aimed to ensure their continued weakness and subjugation._ Their liberation from this torment and persecution was a great Act of Allah Azzawajal’s Grace which should be acknowledged and remembered both in the hearts and verbally with a sense of gratitude. *This was a means to test their patience, resistance, perseverance and determination.*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that pleasure of freedom is a Divine gift and Allah Azzawajal commands to remember its value for future generations.‼️ _Even in recent times the world is a witness to the atrocities carried by similar colonising powers who have always tried to subjugate others and that’s why the liberation Day is always remembered and celebrated in the form of Independence Days._

–To understand that Patience does not merely mean entailing and enduring hardship. *It is rather endurance without being shaken or mentally defeated, coupled with the determination to stand up to tyranny until freedom is achieved.* Endurance that only entails tolerating humiliation is not worthy of praise. The Israelites also experienced the trial of deliverance from tyranny, so as to test their gratitude for Allah Azzawajal’s grace which Musa(AS) asked them to reflect in following the path of HIS guidance.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain grateful and humble ourselves with gratitude by following HIS commands. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 5_*

*_”And verily We sent Musa with Our Signs, saying, ‘Bring out your people from darkness to light and remind them of the days of Allah.’ Indeed, in that are signs for everyone patient and thankful”.(5)_*

_’Days of Allah’; the days when Allah’s mercy was specially shown to Israelites, (refer S2:A30-61 and other places in Qur’an) in great detail. Everyday and every hour and minute, Allah’s Grace flows to us abundantly, but there are special events in personal and national history which may be commemorated as Red-letter Days._

_Those historical events are Signs in this sense that *their proper and intelligent study provides proofs of the fact that ‘THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD’ ;* and that the ‘Law of Retribution’ is universal and is based absolutely on the differentiation between the knowledge and moral practice of the Truth and falsehood. And that this Law also requires another world *(THE HEREAFTER)* for its due fulfilment._

*Act for the Day is:* _To understand and “to Learn lessons and receive the guidance from Allah SWT about HIS Signs in the Universe and the historical events of rise and fall of nations‼️._ *But from such a guidance only those can benefit who have the qualities of patience and gratefulness in them:* _patience for persevering in the hope of receiving reward from Allah Azzawajal for bearing all sufferings in HIS path , and gratefulness for having received from Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la the blessing of HIS religion and the provision of spiritual tranquility that has been provided.._

–To pay attention to the word used in this Ayah is: *Qawm* while asking Prophet Musa AS to bring his people from darkness into the light. But, when this very subject was taken up in the first Ayah of this particular Surah by addressing the Prophet SAWS the word: *qawm* was not used there.❗ Instead, used there was the word: *An-Nas* that you may take the people [that is, the human’ beings out of [all sorts ofl darkness into the light). _Implied here is the sense that the Divinely ordained mission of Prophet Musa AS as a prophet was only for his people, the Bani Israel, and for others in Egypt while the coming of the Noble Prophet SAWS was destined for the human beings of the entire world._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain patient and thankful for all the blessings we have received from HIM. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 4

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 4_*

*_We did not send any Messenger but [he spoke] in the language of his own people, in order to make [things] clear to them. Then Allah leaves astray whomever He wills and guides whomever He wills, and He is the Almighty, Most Wise.(4)_*

The Ayah speaks of the Grace of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la by sending Messenger to the people who speaks in their own language.‼️The Messenger conveyed Divine injunctions to them in their language and usage whereby understanding these become easy on them. *If the language of the messenger had been different from that of his addressees, it is evident that his people would have to undergo the burden of having to translate the injunctions before they could understand them correctly and they would have remained doubtful.* _Secondly the message being in their own language they will not have any excuse left that they could not understand the language of the message._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the object of a Message is to make things clear, therefore it was delivered in the language current among the people to whom the Messenger was sent. Through them it can reach all mankind.‼️ Since Arabic was the language of the people among whom the last Prophet SAWS was raised and the Arabs were the first to be addressed, he was given a revelation in Arabic. That made it easy for the first generation Muslims to understand and obtain the Message in complete accuracy and fullest scope and to be able to pass it on to the next generation Muslims. Accordingly, after the Prophet SAWS, they spread in every direction to spread the Message.

—To understand the object behind sending the prophets in the world was not to show wondrous acts, but to convey to the people HIS message.❗ *Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la is so gracious that HE SWT wants each and every human being to be guided that’s the reason the Messenger and the message is in their language.* A Messenger’s task is completed when he conveys to the people the injunctions of the religion. But inspite of all this some people who wilfully choose to go astray they won’t find the guidance of Allah Azzawajal rather they are left to wander further apart.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to pay attention to the injunctions of the Qur’an and teachings of the Prophet SAWS and become worthy being guided. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 3_*

*_Those who prefer the life of this world to the hereafter, who bar [people] from the path of Allah, and seek to make it appear crooked; those are the ones who have gone far astray.(3)_*

The Ayah gives a description of the people who have gone far astray.‼️ The have the following characteristics they are: *1) They prefer the life of this world compared to the Hereafter* that is they sacrifice every thing even their faith and the truth in face of the mean interests, passions, and their low desires.
*2) The next thing is that in addition to their own seduction they seek to seduce others as well.* _They stand in the way of the people in order to obstruct them from the path of Allah Azzawajal or they even tend to introduce changes in it as well by adding superstitions and all kinds of distortions to it as well as creating dirty and ugly traditions, they try to achieve their objectives by inappropriate propaganda, overt committing of sins, spread of the methods of corruption and of ways of negligence, inciting of skepticism, creating and spreading the means of discord, and spreading of seducing films and publications, misrepresenting the religion of the truth, introducing the wrong kind of people as the identification religious figures.etc._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that root cause of their disbelief is love of the world and following their desires.‼️ *They only hope for the pleasures of the world, freely doing whatever they want; eat, drink, dress and do as they please. People who prefer this deny the existence of religion which would prevent all their dishonorable actions.* _Giving preference to the life of this world puts a person in a position of conflict with the requirements of faith, and on a collision course with the ‘path of Allah Azzawajal’_. *The situation is reversed when preference is given to the life to come.* _For them, this life is set on the right course. People enjoy it with moderation, always keen to earn Allah Azzawajal’s pleasure. Hence there is no conflict between their preference for the life to come and their enjoyment of this life and the pleasures it offers._

— *To understand that in Islam, a happy life in this world is a prelude to a happy future life.* _The fulfilment of man’s task as Allah Azzawajal’s vicegerent on earth requires building a happy life. In Islam, there is no denunciation or renunciation of any aspect of this life as people wait for the hereafter. What Islam requires is that life should prosper with truth, justice and sound behaviour by people who seek Allah’s pleasure and a happy life in the hereafter. This is the Islamic outlook._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to gain for the Hereafter by following HIS commands and the teachings of our Noble Prophet SAWS. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 2_*

*_[the path of] Allah, to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth. And woe to the disbelievers from a severe punishment.(2)_*

The Ayah gives a warning to the disbelievers for their rejection of the Messenger and the Message.‼️ The Messenger SAWS is calling the mankind to the path of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la who is the creator and Owner of the entire universe. Whenever the word *لَهُ Lahu* is presented (first) it means *exclusive.* It is Only Allah Azzawajal who owns this world, no one else, and Allah Azzawajal does not share it with anyone. Hence this Guide(SAWS) and the Book of Guidance (Qur’an) is sent by HIM who owns everything for the benefit of mankind to bring them out of darkness to light. Therefore the people who have failed to recognise this fact are indeed losers and are bound to suffer.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that when the proof and evidence is clearly established and those who reject and do not submit to HIS commands indeed deserve severe punishment.‼️ The word *عَضابٍ شَديد severe Punishment* means it is no ordinary punishment. *This is inflicted on them as a result of their rejection of the greatest blessing Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has bestowed on humanity, that is, sending them a Messenger.* That is an act of Allah Azzawajal’s grace for entire mankind for which we cannot show enough gratitude as it deserves however hard we try. Yet Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la is Oft forgiving to our shortcomings.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to follow the Qur’an and foot steps of our Beloved Prophet SAWS and gain HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 1

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 1_*

*_”Alif Laam Ra.” (This is) a Book which We have revealed to you so that you may bring mankind out of darkness into light by the permission of their Lord, to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy.”(1)_*

_This is the purpose for which the Noble Prophet SAWS had been sent.‼️ *He was entrusted with the mission that he should bring mankind back from the ways of darkness (ways of wickedness) into the Way of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la by the help of the Light of the Qur’an.*_

_*It is insisted that every Prophet speaks not from himself but from Allah Azzawajal.* His leading into the light is but by the Grace and Mercy of Allah Azzawajal, not by any power of his own, or by any merit of those who hear him._

_For everyone, who is not on the Way of Allah SWT, is in fact, wandering about in the ways of the darkness (of ignorance), even though he might consider himself to be very enlightened and full of knowledge. On the other hand, the one who finds the Way of Allah Azzawajal, comes into the Light of Knowledge, even though he might be an illiterate person._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To understand the *Divine Law,* according to which Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la helps and permits a person to gain guidance. We learn from different passages of the Qur’an that *Allah Azzawajal gives help only to that person who himself has a desire to get guidance.*_
_1. Who frees himself from obduracy, obstinacy and prejudice._
_2. Who is not a follower of his lust, nor a slave of his desires,_
_3. Who is inclined to see with open eyes and hear with open ears and think with a clear mind._

–To understand two attributes of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la in the Ayah *_Aziz(Mighty) and Hameed(Worthy of Praise)._* _The word *Hameed* is more comprehensive than *Mahmud*._ A person will be entitled to be Mahmud only when he is praised. But the Being Who is Hameed, is naturally and permanently worthy of praise, whether anyone praises Him or not, because the element of praise is inherent in Him and is inseparable from Him. The idea is to clarify that this religion which is the only path which leads man to Allah Azzawajal is such that by following it man can establish a relationship with a Being that has power over the entire universe, and Who is the possessor of all the good and excellent attributes, therefore, by establishing a relationship with HIM man will be benefited immensely and there will have no desire unfulfilled.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to connect and gain closeness to HIM by following HIS Book and the teachings of HIS Messenger SAWS. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
