Surah An Nahl – Ayah 127

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 127_*

ا
*_And be patient, and your patience is not but from Allah. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they plot.(127)_*

_This ayah is directly addressed to the Prophet (PBUH), *’Do thou be patient.’* It is a command; his standard as the Great Teacher is much higher; and he carried it out in his life._
_His patience and self-restraint were under circumstances of extraordinary provocations. In his human wisdom it may sometimes have seemed questionable whether forbearance and self-restraint might not be human weakness; he had to defend his people as well as himself against the enemy’s persecutions. He is told here that he need not entertain any such fears. Patience (with constancy) in those circumstances was in accordance with Allah’s own command._

*_Act for the Day is:_* to understand that the Qur’ān encourages the Prophet SAWS, and every Dae’e of Islam as well, not to grieve when they see people turning their backs on Allah’s guidance. They have their duty to fulfil.‼️ *Guiding people aright or leaving them to go astray are matters determined by Allah Azzawajal, in accordance with HIS laws of nature which control people’s souls and their striving to follow guidance or to turn away from it*.❗

_Let’s understand, very clearly the Command of Allah SWT to our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and behave accordingly in similar circumstances. We shall neither grieve if our efforts of conveying the Noble message is not being accepted nor let our hearts feel the pain of failure, (due to the secret plots of the unbelievers against us). Allah Azzawajal would protect us all. Keep walking – the Sunnah way/style. Our duty is to pass on the message with complete Patience._

_*Let’s not forget that Patience and Perseverance is indeed an indispensable Key to Success”*_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to stand firm upon our duty and save us from the tyrants. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 126

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 126_*

*_”And if you retaliate, retaliate with an equivalent of that with which you were afflicted. But if you are patient – it is better for those who are patient.”(126)_*

According to the majority of commentators, this Ayah is Madani. It was revealed in relation to the shahadah of seventy Sahabah Radiallahu Anhum and about the event in which Hamzah RA was killed and his body was subjected to post-killing mutilations (muthlah)‼️. The narration in Sahih al-Bukhari is in accordance with it.

_In the context this ayah refers to controversies and discussions, but the words are wide enough to cover all human struggles, disputes, and fights. In strictest equity you are not entitled to give a worse blow than is given to you. *But those who have reached a higher spiritual standard do not even do that.* They restrain themselves, and are patient._

_The statement of Allah SWT: “Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without recokening”._ (Refer S39:A10).
_Narrated Abu Musa RA.,The Prophet (PBUH) said, “None is more patient than Allah against the harmful saying. He hears from the people, they ascribe a son (or offspring) to Him, yet He gives them health and supplies them with provision.”_ (Sahîh Al-Bukhârí, Vol. 8, hadith 121).

*_Act for the Day is:_* _Never to Think that patience only gives advantage to the adversary (competitor/opponents/enemy), we are told that it is contrary to what we think; *the advantage is with the patient, the self-restraint, self-possessed, those who do not lose their temper or forget their own principles of conduct.*_

_Let’s remind ourselves that, *”Patience and Perseverance is indeed an Indispensable Key to Success.”*_

To always remember that Aggression is an action that must be repelled with similar force in order to preserve the dignity of the truth and to ensure that falsehood does not triumph. Response to aggression, however, must not exceed the limits of repelling it.‼ *Islam is the faith of justice and moderation, peace and reconciliation.*❗ It repels any aggression launched against it or its followers, without committing any aggression against others.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to develop patience and perseverance in practicing the Deen. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 125

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 125_*

*_”Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction and discuss with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of those who are Guided”.(125)_*

_In this wonderful Ayah, a whole curriculum of Da’wah and Tabligh, its principles and rules of etiquette, within the frame of a few words
is laid down which are good for all time.‼️ But where are the Teachers with such qualifications? Invite all to the Way of Allah, and expound His Universal Will. Our manner and our arguments should not be acrimonious, but modelled on the most courteous and the most gracious example, so that the hearer may say to himself, *’This man is not dealing merely with dialectics; He is not trying to get a rise out of me; he is sincerely expounding the Faith that is in him, and his motive is the Love of man and Love of Allah’.*_

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To understand that Calling people towards Allah *(Da’wah ilallah)* has been made *obligatory on the Muslim Ummah following in the footsteps of the Noble Prophet* SWS It was said in Surah Aal-e-Imran
*_And there has to be a group of people from among you who call towards the good.(3:104)_* And in another Ayah, it was said *_And who is better in utterance than the one who called (people) towards Allah_*. (Ha Mim as-Sajdah/Fussilat, 41:33)

—To understand the beautiful methodology defined by Allah SWT in calling people to HIS way. *We must invite people with Wisdom, discretion and experience, which may be very narrow, or very wide.* Make sure that our preaching must be, not dogmatic, not self-regarding, not offensive, but gentle, considerate and such as would attract their attention. *And never force anyone.*_

_Our intention shall be to seed the word of Allah Azzawajal and it is HE who will germinate in people’s mind. It is not for us to look for results. Man’s inner thoughts are known best to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to fulfil this responsibility with patience and perseverance. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 124

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 124_*

*_The Sabbath was only ordained for those who differed concerning it. Verily your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differed.(124)_*

in this ayah the objection of the polytheists is being answered as to why this prophet does not give the command concerning the observance of Sabbath.‼️ *They have been answered that the command for Sabbath was not given in the Shariah of Prophet Ibrahim(AS), but that it was for the Jews on account of special circumstances, and since this Prophet SAWS has been given basically the same Shariah which was given to Prophet Ibrahim(AS), there are no severe restrictions like Sabbath in it.*
There is no doubt that for every nation, Allah Azzawajal prescribed one day of the week for people to gather to worship HIM. *For this Ummah HE SWT prescribed Friday, because it is the sixth day, on which HE SWT completed and perfected HIS pleasure on creation. On this day HE SWT gathered and completed HIS blessings for HIS servants*. _It was said that Allah SWT prescribed this day for the Children of Israel through HIS Prophet Musa(AS), but they changed it and chose Saturday because it was the day on which the Creator did not create anything, as HE SWT had completed HIS creation on Friday. Allah Azzawajal made observance of the Sabbath obligatory for them in the laws of the Tawrah (Torah), telling them to keep the Sabbath. At the same time, He told them to follow Muhammad SAWS when he was sent, and took their promises and covenant to that effect._ Hence Allah Azzawajal says: *_The Sabbath was only prescribed for those who differed concerning it”_*

*The severe commands for observing this day was put because of their dispute.* Had they agreed to observe Friday as a special day, then such severe commands would not have been given. Thereafter, when the Christians came, they also differed in the matter of Sabbath and instead of Saturday, they reserved Sunday as a special day for themselves. *But the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him) got Friday by the grace of Allah Azzawajal. When they were given special commands regarding observance of Friday, they did not disagree.* Thus the day of Friday, with which the week begins came to the lot of Muhammad’s(SAWS ) Ummah. Jews remained a day behind because of Saturday and the Christians two days behind because of Sunday.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the prohibition imposed on the Day of Sabbath was a means for moral discipline.to the children of Israel. The Jews stubbornly implemented the Saturday ban as a show of piety, even though they never observed it spiritually and made to look like a ritual. However, the Christians, despite believing in the Torah, knowing it as a part of the Bible, even as the original of the Bible, as its ancestor, thought that this ban was specific to that day and started a theological polemic by saying that its ruling is not valid today, and it has been cancelled, that is, it has been abrogated and chose Sunday at the time of Constantine in order to be different from the Jews, and they started to pray towards the east instead of facing the Dome (i.e., Jerusalem).

_To be really carefully about our attitude towards the commands of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.  We should be the ones who say, *“We heard and we obeyed,” and not follow what our nafs inspires us to do.*_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to abide by HIS commands and stay in submission till our last breath. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 129

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 123_*

*_Then We revealed to you [O Muhammad]: Follow the religion of Ibraheem, the monotheist, and he was not one of those who ascribe partners to Allah.(123)_*

The Ayah establishes a link between Prophet Ibrahim(AS) and Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam.‼️ After describing the Noble characters and status of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پلسَّلَامُ, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was instructed to follow the religion of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پلَسَّلَامُ. *So from here we can know that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is not the designer of a new religion as many ignorant disbelievers say.* The Noble Prophetﷺ only inherited the Islamic religion that existed before that. So when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ invited the Jews and Christians and the pagans of Makkah to follow him, he did not invite them to follow his new religion, but to the religion of their great grand father, which is the religion of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پسَّلَامُ. *In fact, Islam is not a new religion that started in the time of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پالسَّلَامُ but it is much older than that, which is the same religion practiced right from Prophet Adam عَلَيْهِ پلَسَّلَامُ*

As Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la says
*_The Jews and Christians each say, “Follow our faith to be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “No! We follow the faith of Ibrahim, the upright—who was not a polytheist.”(Surah Al-Baqarah. 2:135)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the reasons for asking our Noble Prophetﷺ
to follow the religion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).‼️
1. The law of Prophet Ibrahim (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came first.

2. As a tribute to the Khalilullah that is Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ ٍلَسَّلَامُ. Allah ﷻ touched the greatness of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پلسَّلَامُ here when he told HIS most noble servant (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) to follow him (Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پسَّلَامُ).

This Ayah also served as a lesson to the Makkan pagans and to the rest of the world that to be a follower of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پلَسَّلَامُ as claimed, they have to follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ because he followed the teachings of his father Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ پلَسَّلَامُ.

Allah ﷻ emphasized once again that Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ ٍلَّسلَامُ was not a polytheist rather he was a _*Hanif* which means the one who stays firm on a straight path, not inclining a bit towards anything or accepting any distraction. *Hanif* literally is ‘Inclining to a right state or tendency and particularly inclining away from any false religion, to the true religion’_. This Ayah clearly *dissociates the polytheists* from claiming any link with Prophet Ibrahim(AS) rather establishes the link with only those who follow Tawheed.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to adhere to Tawheed and save us from shirk and all forms of deviation. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 121 & 122

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 121 & 122_*

*_He was ever grateful for His blessings; Allah chose him and guided him to a straight path.(121)_*.

*_We gave him good in this world, and in the hereafter he will surely be among the righteous.(122)_*

The Ayah continues to highlight the beautiful and ideal characters of Prophet Ibrahim(AS). He has the qualities of leadership, a person who is obedient (disciplined), has noble character (moralist), is firm (consistent) in the truth, a pure muwahhid (monotheist), and always likes to be *grateful for all the bounties* to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ *The polytheists of Makkah are being reminded as they were really ungrateful. They received many favors as their position guardians of the Kaaba, but they disobeyed Allah ﷻ.* They supposedly claimed to be the followers of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ ٍلَسَّلَامُ but in fact they did not even show that interms of their practices. Hence they are admonished and rebuked for their claims.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that being grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la doesn’t just mean lip service rather it has to be acknowledged through our Obedience and following HIS commands.‼️ The word *ijtiba* means to choose and select meaning Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la chose and selected Prophet Ibrahim(AS) as HIS Messenger. He is among the *Ulul Azm* amongst the Messengers and he was also given the title of *Khalilullah*. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) went through almost every test successfully and gained the nearness of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la. After blessing him with prophethood, God opened the path of the religion (Islam) for him, which was a straight path, leading to HIM. And he was granted the best in this world in the form of noble prophets Ismail (AS) and Ishaq(AS) as lineage and the honour of building the kabah.

—To understand that first condition for success in the Hereafter is to be virtuous. The higher ranks come afterwards. Prophet Ibrahim had passed a virtuous and pious life in the world, therefore, in the Hereafter also he will be a virtuous personality.

_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon the lives of our Noble Prophets Alahis salam and make us of HIS obedient slaves. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen.

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 120

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 120_*

*_Ibraheem was indeed an exemplary leader, devoutly obedient to Allah, a monotheist, and he was not one of those who ascribed partners to Allah.(120)_*

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la now the reminds the disbelievers of Makkah about the exemplary characters of Prophet Ibrahim(AS) whom they claimed to follow.‼️ Prophet Ibrahim(AS) is described as a perfect follower of Allah Azzawajal’s guidance, obedient to HIS commands and was always grateful to HIM. The Arabic term describing him here, *ummah, means a ‘nation’ or a ‘leader’*. Thus the Ayah may be taken to mean that Ibrahim(AS) was equal to a whole nation in his faith and true obedience. He was infact a leader to be followed in all goodly matters. _*Since he never associated partners with Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la,* those who are doing like the pagan Quraysh are being admonished not claim any relationship with him, because there is no such affinity of theirs in terms of his pure and noble practices._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to ponder upon the
unique and distinctive characters of Prophet Ibrahim(AS) as he rose up as an ideal monotheist, who gave the lesson of tawheed to the world.‼️ *Therefore, he is the Imam of the monotheists and not of the polytheists, and if the pagans really wanted to be his followers, then they should adopt the path of monotheism and shun polytheism.*

—To pay attention to the word 1) *Qanit قانِتًا* which means a person who is constantly submissive and obedient
2) *Hanif حَنيفًا*. It means an upright person, and the one who is dedicated to Allah Azzawajal and he turns only towards Allah Azzawajal with his heart and not towards anyone else.”

This Ayah reminds us:

1. To emulate Ibrahim’s(AS) character.
2. To prioritise Tawheed.
3. To shun polytheism and shirk.
4. To cultivate gratitude

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to adopt the Noble characters of the Prophet Alahis salam and gain HIS love and pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 119

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 119_*

*_Then verily your Lord, to those who do evil in ignorance then repent and mend their ways – verily your Lord, after that, is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.(119)_*

Here Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la encourages HIS slaves to repent and calls them to turn to HIM.‼️ While Islam prescribes punishment, it does not slam the door in the face of sinners, should they want to return to society after having realised their guilt. *Indeed, Islam encourages them and opens the way for them to repent and purify themselves*. The encouragement is so emphatic that Allah makes acceptance of repentance, once it is genuine and sincere, a duty which HE SWT in HIS glory imposes on Himself by HIS Own free will. In this, HIS grace is more than anyone can expect.

_The sentence *….”those who do evil out of ignorance”….* means deviation from Divine guidance, whether for a long or short period, as long as it does not continue until one is in the throes of death. The Companions Radi AllahAnhum were unanimous that every sin, whether intentional or unintentional, falls under *jahalah* of the original here; and hence, many have said that so long as a man continues in his sin, he is a *jahil,* until he gives it up._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that We have to remember that Allah — limitless is HE in HIS glory — has no need for HIS servants or their repentance. *When they repent, they benefit only themselves*. It is their lives and the life of the community in which they live that improve and become happy. Hence, the way is open for all of us to return to the true path at any time before our last breath.

–To understand that
“Repentance has its elements:they are – (i) enlightenment of the heart, (ii) detestation of the sin, (iii) a resolve to avoid it in future, (iv) an earnest crying for Allah’s forgiveness.”‼️
*True repentance* which Allah Azzawajal, out of HIS Grace, has bound Himself to accept is the one which is deeply felt by the repenter and which indicates that he or she has undergone a total transformation. *It means that past mistakes are sincerely regretted, and that regret has prompted a total change of attitude when the person concerned still enjoys good health, and still aspires to a brighter future.* _Such repentance is normally accompanied by a genuine desire for self-purification and a resolve to follow a different way of life._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to repent and turn to HIM with sincerity and gain HIS forgiveness and pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 118

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 118_*

*_To the Jews We prohibited that which We recounted to you before. We did not wrong them; rather they wronged themselves.(118)_*

In this Ayah Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has stated that certain things were made unlawful because of the disobedience of the Jews.‼️ Allah says
*_And unto those who are Jews, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof, and We forbade them the fat of the ox and the sheep except what adheres to their backs”( Surah Al-An’am 6:146)_*
The Jews themselves had made several things unlawful for themselves, and as a punishment Allah Azzawajal allowed them to remain a prey to that misunderstanding. These include birds with claws such as the ostrich, seagull and water-hen, and also the fat of oxen and sheep. *These prohibited things in themselves were not filthy, (they were quite clean)–but because of the transgression and rebellion of the Jews the laws of the Shariah were made stricter for them, as a punishment.*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the one who indulges in transgressions against the limits set by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la are bound to suffer both in this world as well as in the Hereafter.‼️ The people Judaized themselves” as Allah Azzawajal had not revealed Judaism, but the religion of surrender (islam) through Musa(AS) and the Prophets who followed him; but, over time, the Jewish scholars created a new religion called Judaism several centuries after Musa(AS). The Jews deserved that these wholesome things be made forbidden because of their transgression and disobedience of Allah Azzawajal. It was they who thus wronged themselves, while Allah Azzawajal did them no wrong.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to surrender to HIS commands in toto and save us from transgressing HIS set limits. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah An-Nahl, Ayat 116 & 117_*

*_”And do not say about what your tongues assert of falsehood, “This is lawful and this is forbidden”, to invent a lie about Allah. Indeed, those who invent a lie about Allah will not succeed.(116)_*

*_It is only a brief enjoyment, and theirs will be a painful punishment.(117)_*

_This Ayah clearly shows that none but Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has the right to declare a thing to be lawful or unlawful.‼️ Or, in other words, the right of making laws, exclusively rests with Allah Azzawajal. Therefore, any person, who will dare to decide about the lawful and the unlawful, will transgress his powers._

_*The arrogation* (to claim unwarrantably or assume to oneself without right) of the right of determining the lawful and the unlawful has been declared to be a falsehood on Allah Azzawajal for two reasons:_

_1) Such a person, so to say, claims that, what he declares to be lawful or unlawful disregarding the authority of the Divine Book has been made lawful or unlawful by Allah Azzawajal, or_

_2) he means to claim that Allah Azzawajal has given up the authority of making lawful and unlawful, and has thus left man free to make his own laws for the conduct of life. It is obvious that each of these claims will be a *”falsehood”* and a false imputation (accusation) to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _Never dare to use the tongue to say something about which we have no knowledge‼️. *And never create taboos, out of superstitions, or selfish ends and enforce them in the name of religion.*_ (Nothing can be more wrong or bad, and deserving condemnation.) _*Because, if we do so, we can never prosper, either in this world nor in the Hereafter.*_ That is: Those who invent lies against Allah Azzawajal can enjoy their worldly pleasures only for a few days, but neither this worldly life of theirs is successful nor will they achieve any success in the life of the Hereafter. There they will have to undergo very grievous punishment.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to adhere to HIS commands and stay away from falsehood and sinful things. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
