Surah An Nahl – Ayah 73

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 73_*

*_and will they worship, besides Allah, that which has no power to provide anything for them from the heavens or the earth as sustenance, and can do nothing at all?(73)_*

The Ayah calls to recognise Allah’sﷻ exclusive authority over entire universe and shun idolatry and false worship.‼️ *The Ayah describes the ignorance and wrongdoing of the polytheists, for they worship besides Allahﷻ, those gods that they regard as partners to HIM, when in fact they have no power to provide anything from the heavens or the earth.* _They do not send down rain or provision, they do not cause any plants to grow on earth, they have no dominion at all over the heavens or the earth, and they cannot do any of these things even if they wanted to. This is the description of their gods, so how could they regard them as equal to Allahﷻ or liken them to the One Who has dominion over the earth and the heavens, to Whom all dominion, praise and power belong?_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the true nature of false gods, that is they are *totally helpless in all regards* and they do not have any possibility of providing even an atom’s weight of sustenance from the Heavens or the Earth.‼️ *It is indeed amazing that human nature can become so twisted as to allow the worship of things that can provide people with nothing.* They prefer such things to Allahﷻ, the Creator who provides them with all they have and all the blessings they enjoy Therefore one needs to worship Allahﷻ who is the sole provider of Rizq, HE is *Ar-Razzaq*.

—To understand that *Rizq* is a *comprehensive term* that includes all forms of resources and blessings that Allahﷻ provides to HIS creation. *This includes material possessions like food, wealth, and shelter, as well as intangible blessings like knowledge, good health, opportunities, and guidance.* The ability to provide for all creatures is one of the attributes that show the Lordship of Allahﷻ, as no one can ever try or achieve this feat. If someone provides for another it is only from what he has been given from the provision of Allahﷻ. This attribute should direct us to His worship alone. Allahﷻ says:
_O mankind, remember the favour of Allah upon you. Is there any creator other than Allah who provides for you from the heaven and earth? There is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded?(35:3)_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the true and right understanding of the Deen and save us from shirk and Bidah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 72

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 72_*

*_Allah has given you spouses of your own kind and has given you, through your spouses, children and grandchildren, and provided you with good things as sustenance. Will they then believe in falsehood and show ingratitude for the blessings of Allah,(72)_*

_Some people have this false and baseless belief that there are certain gods and goddesses, jinns and saints, dead and alive, who possess the power to make or mar their fates, fulfil their desires and answer their prayers, give them children, cure their diseases and help them win law suits._

_*The Qur’an considers such an association to be the denial of Allah’s favours.* It puts forward the fundamental principle: *It is the denial of the favour of the real benefactor to offer gratitude for his favour to anyone who has not done that favour,* or to presume without any proof or reason that the real benefactor has not granted that favour of his own accord but because of the mediation or regard or recommendation or intercession of this or that person._

*_Act for the Day is:_*  _To put little thought to the fact of nature around us, and it will prove itself to us that It is *Allah alone,* Who has made wives for us from our own species and *HE Alone* bestowed upon us sons and grandsons from our wives, and provided for our sustenance *Of the best.*_

_Women was made to be a mate or companion for man; of the same nature as man, and therefore with the same moral and religious rights and duties; *And she is to be considered source of blessing and as one of the favours (Ni’mah) of Allah SWT.*_

_Just as the sons are considered as source of strength, so daughters and grandchildren should serve and contribute to the happiness of father and grandparents, and are to be looked upon as further blessings._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and show our gratitude through our Obedience to HIS commands. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 71

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 71_*

*_”And Allah has favoured some of you over others in provision. But those who were favoured would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess (slaves/servants) so that they are equal to them. Then is it the favour of Allah they reject?”(71)_*

_” For those who deny Allah’sﷻ favours and attribute  partners to Allahﷻ, will be worthwhile to give deep thought to the meanings of this Ayah‼️. The whole passage in which this Ayah occurs, deals with the *refutation of shirk and proof of Tauhid.*_ (Please also read the complete passage of S16:A72-76).

Allahﷻ SWT explains that; *_”When you yourselves do not make your servants and slaves equal partners in your wealth-which in fact is given to you by Allahﷻ how is it that you join other gods with Allahﷻ in your gratitude to HIM for the favours with which HE has blessed you. You know that these gods have no powers to bestow anything on anyone, and, therefore, have no right in your worship of Allahﷻ, for they are after all HIS slaves and servants.”_*

Then the question to be asked is; _How then, can we ignore the immense difference between the Creator and created things, and make the later, partners with Allahﷻ?_

*_Act for the Day_* is to understand this example is given merely to clarify the wrong mentality of those who assign partners to Allahﷻ.‼️ It is similar to criticising their practice of declaring angels to be the daughters of Allah. It was then remarked that they had chosen sons for themselves but for Allah they assign daughters. *The idea is to bring into focus the corruption in their mentality and falsehood of their belief, and not to give a certificate of approval for men to consider daughters as objectionable things.* Here also the example of the slaves is given taking into consideration their basic status and not to deal with the problem of treating them. Therefore, the discussion should not be carried over to irrelevant fields.

—To understand *properly the relation between a master and his slave.❗* How can a person attribute the favours bestowed by Allahﷻ to have been bestowed by His slaves❓ Are Allah’sﷻ slaves and HIS creatures partners in HIS godhood and property❓ If not, and surely not, then on receiving any bounty and worldly comforts man should be thankful to Allahﷻ Alone. But those who assign partners to Allahﷻ, on receiving good things of life do not thank HIM, but thank HIS slaves and HIS creatures for having received those worldly goodies by their favours.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and save us from falling into the trap of shirk and Bidah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 70

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 70_*

_*”And Allah created you, then HE will cause you to die. And among you is he who is sent back to the most abject*_ (extremely unpleasant) *_old age so that he will not know a thing, after having had knowledge. Indeed, Allah is All-knowing, All-powerful.”(70)_*

Through the words of the present Ayah, they have been invited to ponder over the very state they are in.‼️
_Besides the mystery and beauty of the many processes going on in the working of Allah’sﷻ Creation, there is the wonderful life of man himself on this earth; *How he is created as a child; How he grows in intelligence and knowledge; and How his soul is taken back and his body suffers dissolution.*_

_In some cases he lives so long that he falls into a feeble old age like a second childhood; he forgets what he learnt and seems almost to go back in Time. *Knowledge, which gives superiority to man over all creatures on this Earth, has been given by Allahﷻ.* “We have seen that; when a man, who once possessed much knowledge, becomes very old, he is reduced to a mere lump of flesh. Then that man who once taught knowledge to others loses all his senses and cannot look even after his own self”. *Complete knowledge of Everything is only with Allahﷻ, who is everlasting.* Is not all this wonderful, and evidence of the Knowledge and Power of Allahﷻ? SubhaanAllah!_

The Noble Prophet SAWS always prayed: *_’0 Allah, I seek refuge with You from the evil of age_*’ and according to another narration: *_’0 Allah, I seek refuge with you from that I be carried to the worst part of the age._*’

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To draw our attention to the remarkable transformations in life and nature, by which the Knowledge and Power of Allahﷻ work out HIS beneficent Plan for HIS feeble creatures, and we are reminded that man at best is but feeble creature, but for the Grace of Allahﷻ._

*_Allahﷻ has full power over our life and death. None else has any power to give life or cause death. All this lies within the power of that sole Being in whose divinity there is no partner or associate._* It means that from knowledge HEﷻ knows everyone’s age, and from power HEﷻ does what He wills. If HEﷻ wills, HEﷻ can have a strong youngman be overtaken by the signs of the worst part of old age, and should HEﷻ so will, even a hundred-year old aged man could remain a strong youngman.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to reflect upon our weaknesses and always make us remain humble and obedient to HIS commands and gain HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen_*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 69

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 69_*

*_Then feed on all kinds of fruit and follow the ways made easy for you by your Lord. There comes forth from their bellies a drink of varying colours, in which there is healing for people. Verily in that there is a sign for people who reflect.(69)_*

The Ayah demands the attention of the entire mankind to reflect upon the process of production of honey in a most systematic and programmed manner.‼️ *The bee sucks the juices from various fruits and flowers. This nectar is stored in a bag in its belly and is converted into honey, which it spits out and stores in the hive.* _To produce about 1 pound (0.5 kilogram) of honey requires 25,000 trips between the hive and flowers. In its whole lifetime, a little less than a year, a bee collects about 45 gm of honey. A pound of honey contains the essence of about 2 million flowers. The bee can fly out to long distances in search of food, at an average speed of 20-25 km/hour. She has to fly for distance as much as 10 km from the hive to collect the nectar. Every drop of honey which it prepares and stores requires it to go through very tiresome and difficult stages, but all these stages have *been made so easy by its Lord* that it is constantly busy in its work and goes to distant places in search of flowers and returns to its hive *without losing its way.* It sucks nectar from the fruits when their skin or rind has become soft or has split._ *Honey has different colours, red, white, yellow.* The honey varies in colour, taste and medical properties according to the kinds of flowers and fruits from which the bees suck the nectar.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to ponder and reflect upon this sign in the creation of the little bee, which Allahﷻ has inspired and taught in this wondrous manner, and shown it places where it can find food, then come back to the hives which the bees build in the way that Allahﷻ has taught them.‼️ Apart from being a tasty and useful food, honey is also a remedial prescription for various diseases.

— Allahﷻ, by causing rains to come down, gives new life to dead lands. Winding through the impurities of feces and blood, HEﷻ makes pipelines of pure and pleasant milk flow for us. On date-palms and grape-vines, HE ﷻ grows sweet fruits from which we make all sorts of syrups and preserves. Through a tiny little living creature with a poisonous bite, HE ﷻ provides for us what is an excellent combination of food, drink, taste, flavor, and cure. Thus all these points to the perfect power of Allahﷻ and calls people to turn to Tawheed.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and remain grateful to HIM through our Obedience. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 68

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 68_*

*_”And your Lord inspired to the bee, “Take for yourself houses among the mountains and among the trees and in that which they construct.”(68)_*

_The lexical meaning of the Arabic word *(‘Awhā/Wahyūn)* is secret inspiration which is felt only by the one who inspires and the other who is inspired with. (The message put into the mind or heart by Allahﷻ)._
_*Here the Bee’s instinct is referred to Allah’sﷻ teaching, which it undoubtedly is.*_

_HEﷻ sends wahi to the bee and inspires it with faculties to perform the whole of its wonderful work instinctively. The same is true of the bird that learns to fly, the fish that learns to swim, the newly born child that learns to suck milk, etc., etc. Then, it is also wahi with which Allahﷻ inspires a human being with a spontaneous idea. The same is the case with all the great discoveries, inventions, works of literature and art, etc., which would not have been possible without the benefit of wahi. As a matter of fact, every human being at one time or the other feels its mental or spiritual influence in the form of an idea or thought or plan or dream, which is confirmed by a subsequent experience to be the right guidance from the unseen wahi._

*_Act for the Day_* is:  _To *observe* honeycomb itself, which has a wonderful structure with hexagonal cells, is geometrically perfect, called *buyūt homes*._ If we look at its weight, the *beehive is very light*, but it can hold a heavy load, namely honey, eggs, and embryos. This is also evidence that shows the power of Allahﷻ.

This insect is tasked with production of food for humans in the form of Honey. Therefore their houses need to remain safe and non accessible. _And lets *observe* the way the bee finds out inaccessible places, in the hills, in the trees, and even among the habitations of men, and *let’s Glorify the marvels of nature, i.e., of Allah’sﷻ working in HIS Creation and thank HIM for a nutritious diet like Honey.*_

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 67

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 67_*

*_And from the fruits of date palms and grapevines, you obtain intoxicants, and good provision. Verily in that there is a sign for people of understanding.(67)_*

The Ayah describes one more Grace and bounty from Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ *After the description of the Milk in the previous Ayah now Allahﷻ describes juices and drinks from the fruits of date palm and grape vines and reminds them of HIS bounty.* _Allahﷻ has created many benefits for HIS slaves in the fruits of the palm tree and grapevine, such as various kinds of good and wholesome provision which is eaten raw and cooked, fresh and preserved food and drink that they make from their juice and steeped fruits . From them people make wine and other intoxicating drinks also, which were not forbidden at the time this sūrah was revealed._ *Later Allahﷻ abrogated the permissibility of all such intoxicants, and HE replaced that with good things such as nabeedh (a drink made by steeping dates and the like) and other kinds of delicious permissible drinks.* The way this Ayah is phrased implies that *intoxicants are unwholesome and not good provision,* which serves as a preliminary indication of their forthcoming prohibition. The Ayah describes the situation as it was in practice. _It does not imply that wines and intoxicants were permissible in earlier shariahs, even in the Bible it is considered as filthy and undesirable._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and ponder upon the great blessings provided to us by Allahﷻ and remain grateful.‼️Incidentally it implies that the juice of the fruits of date palms and vines contains two things. *One is that which is pure and wholesome food for man and the other is that which turns into alcohol after it becomes rotten.* But it has been left to the choice of man to obtain pure healthy food from this providence or to drink it as intoxicant wine to excite him and make him loose his self control and his understanding. *Allahﷻ says this Ayah serves a sign for people of understanding* hence by drinking such intoxicants people loose their understanding which should be always be preserved and guarded. Hence if a man uses his understanding and common sense, he cannot fail to feel that his Lord is a great benefactor, who has created for him such excellent things, and when such a feeling is created in his heart, *he will accept the tawheed (monotheism)* to which Qur’an is inviting him.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon the blessings and stay from HIS prohibitions. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 66

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 66_*

*_”And indeed, for you is a lesson in the cattle. We give you drink from what is in their bellies-between bowels and blood – pure milk, palatable to the drinkers”.(66)_*

The Ayah calls to ponder upon one more sign derived from creation of cattle and their role in our lives.‼️
_The spiritual sustenance which Allahﷻ gives is typified by the wonderful ways of sustenance in the physical world, which figure forth Allah’sﷻ providence and living care for HIS creation. And the wonderful transformation in the physical world, which all tend to the benefit of man, are also signs of His Supreme Wisdom._

_*”…between bowels and blood…”,* This refers to the most wonderful process of the formation of pure milk in the bellies of the she-cattle, for the fodder they eat turns into blood, filth and pure milk, which is altogether different from the first two in its nature, colour and usefulness. In the bellies of the cattle where dung and blood are produced, there pure milk is also produced. This milk does not contain even the slightest portion of these two filthy things, and man finds the taste of milk pleasant and palatable. Some she-cattle produce milk in such abundance that after suckling their young-ones, a large quantity of it is left to make excellent human food._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To ponder upon many tangible gifts Allahﷻ SWT has provided us for our continuous growth and sustenance. In rain, in milk, in fruits, in honey._

–Let’s reflect upon the process of milk production through the udders of cattle.❗ It is made of what remains in the bellies of cattle after they have digested their food and the absorption of the excretions in the intestines to transform it into blood. The blood is then circulated to every cell in the body, but when it reaches the milk glands or the udder, it becomes milk through a fine process set by Allahﷻ. This is indeed an aspect of His fine and inimitable creation. No fair minded human being could contemplate such remarkable processes without feeling that every atom in his being glorifies the Creator. The mention of one such scientific fact is sufficient to prove that the Qur’ān is Allah’sﷻ revelation. All mankind was at the time totally ignorant of such facts.

_Let’s Glorify Allahﷻ SWT for His wonderful ways of treating us with various types of fruits, milk and honey._
(So, enjoy the nutritious and delicious halal foods and say *”AlHamdulillah”!*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 65

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 65_*

*_Allah sends down from the sky water whereby He gives life to an earth that is dead. Verily in that is a sign for people who listen [attentively].(65)_*

The Ayah calls for reflection upon the natural phenomenon and listen to what Allahﷻ and HIS Messengers call to.‼️ After mentioning the revelation of the Qur’an which gives life to the human soul ,now the Ayah calls to reflect upon sending down rain which is one more Grace from HIM. These are the signs for the people who listen to the exhortation and admonishment of Allahﷻ, and understand from that that HEﷻ alone is deserving of worship and no worship should be devoted to any but HIM Alone, for HEﷻ is the One Who bestows blessing by sending down rain and bringing forth all kinds of plants. HEﷻ is able to do all things, and the One Who gives life to the earth after it was dead is able to give life to the dead. The One Who bestows all these favours is the Possessor of abundant mercy and immense generosity.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and remain grateful for the Grace of Allahﷻ. Water is indeed the source of life for every living thing. This Ayah makes it the source of life for the whole earth, implying that this includes all that exists on earth. The One who transforms death into life is indeed the One who deserves to be God and to whom worship should be addressed.‼️ *Man witnesses an instructive spectacle every year.* He observes that during the course of each year a time comes when the earth turns altogether barren, becoming bereft of every sign of life and fertility. One does not even see a blade of grass, nor plants nor leaves, nor vines nor flowers, nor even insects. Then suddenly the rainy season sets in. The very first shower causes life to well up from the depths of the earth. Innumerable roots that lay crushed under layer upon layer of earth are suddenly revived, causing the plants which had appeared on the surface a year ago and had then withered away, to make their appearance once again. Likewise, innumerable insects, every trace of which had been destroyed by the heat of summer, make their reappearance. Men observe this spectacle year after year – that life is followed by death and death by life.

Allah ﷻ mentions in Zumar:
*_And indeed We have explained from this Qur’an to all people once, from various examples of comparison hopefully they take admonition.(39:27)_*

“Despite all this, when the Prophet (peace be on him) tells that Allahﷻ will restore people to life after death, they are struck with surprise. This reaction clearly indicates that their observation of the phenomenon of life following death is one akin to the observation of irrational brutes who can hardly make any intelligent sense of what they see.”

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon and take heed. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 64_*

*_”And We have not revealed to you the Book except that you may make clear to them that in which they differ and as a guidance and mercy for a people who believe”.(64)_*

The Ayah describes the duties and obligations of the Messenger. This is called Faridatun Nabawiyah (the duty of the Prophet).‼️ _Allahﷻ has sent Qur’an as a Heavenly Book to Prophet Mohammedﷺ specifically *to make the imparatives in faith, about which non believers dispute.* Thus it is indeed a guidance to salvation, and a mercy for the Well-being of a people who believe in divine revelation. The path of duty before Allah’sﷻ Messenger was three fold;_

_1) That he should *bring about unity among the jarring sects,* for the Gospel of Unity, while preaching the One True God, leads also to *unity of mankind.*_

_2) That the *revelation should be a Guide to the right conduct;* and,_

_3) That it should *Show the path of repentance and salvation,* and thus be the highest mercy to erring sinners._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To understand that this Book (Al Qur’an) has afforded us an excellent opportunity to *resolve our differences* which have been caused by the superstitious creeds of our forefathers, and which have divided, us into warring factions._

_*Let’s then UNITE on the permanent basis of the Truth presented by the Qur’an,*_ (but those stubborn/arrogant people preferring their former condition even after the coming of this blessing, shall meet with disgrace and torment).
_Let’s be guided to Right Conduct, because *ONLY THOSE, WHO BELIEVE IN THIS BOOK* (Al Qur’an), will find the Right Way and blessed with mercy and favours from AIlahﷻ”._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder upon the Qur’ān and guide our hearts to remain united and gain HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
