Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 49 & 50

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 49 & 50_*

*_Tell My slaves that I am indeed the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.(49)_*

*_And that My punishment is indeed the painful punishment.(50)_*

(اے پیغمبر) میرے بندوں کو بتادو کہ میں بڑا بخشنے والا (اور) مہربان ہوں.(49)

اور یہ کہ میرا عذاب بھی درد دینے والا عذاب ہے.(50)

This is an important announcement by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la through HIS Prophet SAWS to the persistent sinners that there is still hope of they being forgiven.‼️ Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la informs us of HIS two divine attributes that HE SWT is *Oft Forgiving and is Most Merciful* to HIS servants. which will help us attain Jannah. These two attributes are very important to us. If we have sins, then we need the nature of Allah ﷻ which is *غَفُورٌ Gafoor Most forgiving* otherwise, we will definitely go to hell to wash away our sins. Then if we want to enter the Jannah , then this requires the nature of Allah ﷻ who is *رَحِيمٌ (Raheem) “Specially Merciful”* because we will not be able to enter Jannah except with HIS mercy.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand as HIS slave that if Allahﷻ Oft-Forgiving and the Most Merciful, then we should not forget that HIS punishment is also most painful.‼️ *Remembering both these points would make life full of hope and fear.* When the slave of Allahﷻ understands the perfect nature of HIS mercy and forgiveness, they will strive hard, taking all measures that could lead them to attain HIS mercy, and they will give up sin and repent therefrom, so that they may attain HIS forgiveness. _However, hope should not let them get carried away and feel safe and secure from punishment, in fact there is no punishment except the punishment of Allah, of which no one could estimate the severity or understand the nature thereof. If they knew that they would be careful and would keep away from anything that could bring his punishment upon them:_ ..

*_None can punish as HE will punish on that day, and none can bind as HE will bind. (Al-Fajr 89: 25-26)-_*

So the individual’s heart should always be between *fear and hope;* when he thinks of the mercy, forgiveness, generosity and kindness of his Lord, that fills him with hope, but when he thinks of his sins and shortcomings with regard to his duties towards his Lord, that instils fear in him and makes him give up his sin.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and take measures to earn HIS forgiveness and Mercy and seek refuge from HIS wrath and punishments. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
