Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 24 & 25

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayat 24 & 25_*

*_Do you not see how Allah compares a good word to a good tree? Its root is firm and its branches reach to the sky.(24)_*

*_It yields its fruit at all times, by its Lord’s leave. Allah makes such comparisons for people so that they may pay heed.(25)_*

The Ayat describes the methodology of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la by using an analogy to teach and explain things to Mankind.‼️ Here Allah Azzawajal says *_Good tree is likened to كَلِمَةً طَيِّبَةً ‘a good word’ – meaning ‘Tawheed’ (La ilaaha illallah)._* _Allah ﷻ compares this Kalimah Tawheed like a good tree. Apart from the Kalimah Tawhid, also included in the category of good words such as shahadah and salawat._ *Faith, which is symbolized by this tree, always grows and blooms, spreading goodness in society as it yields its fruit at all times, by its Lord’s leave* _This is how the tree of faith is: its roots are firmly established in the heart of the believer in terms of knowledge and belief, and its branches include good words, righteous deeds, good attitudes and good manners, which constantly rise to heaven, as the person’s good deeds and good words, which are produced by the tree of faith, ascend from the individual to Allah Azzawajal, which brings benefits to the believer and to others._

*Al-Bukhari* recorded that Abdullah bin Umar said, _“We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when he asked,_

_“Tell me about a tree that resembles the Muslim, the leaves of which do not fall in summer or winter and gives its fruit at all times by the leave of its Lord.”_

_Ibn Umar said, “I thought of the date palm tree, but felt shy to answer when I saw that Abu Bakr and Umar did not talk. When they did not give an answer, the Messenger of Allah peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said,_

*“It is the date palm tree.”*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that A good tree always bears a good fruit.‼️ *This signals to the good deeds of a good person that a lot will come out of it.* _The practice will be good, beneficial and abundant. This is because good practice begets more good practice. When we start doing good deeds, it will be a catalyst for doing more better deeds._

-To understand that Allah ﷻ uses a basic example of a tree to give us understanding.❗As we all are familiar with trees, it is easy to understand. The parable of the tree is true, because trees take time to grow – and it doesn’t suddenly become tall overnight, right?

The same is true for all of us, we don’t become good suddenly. The process of improving ourselves also takes time. The Prophet ﷺ also took time to give his companions training and guidance and saw their improvement over a period of time.

*But we shouldn’t forget, even when the tree is big, it still needs water and fertiliser.* It’s the same with us. Just as a tree always needs water, so we always need continuous guidance from the Qur’an and Seerah. Even though we have learned the interpretation of the Qur’an, but still we have to keep revising and revisiting the Ayat of the Qur’an and the Seerah of Prophet SAWS all the time.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan as strong as a deep rooted tree and improvise our character as a tall standing tree giving benefits to the society. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen_*
