Surah Al Isra – Ayah 5

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 5_*

*_When the first of the two came to pass, We sent against you slaves of Ours possessing great might and power, who wrought havoc throughout the land. And [this] decree was sure to be fulfilled.(5)_*

The refers to the terrible destruction of the Israelites they suffered after they had gained power. *They were humiliated at the hands of the Assyrians and Babylonians because of their acts of tyranny and corruption.*‼️ Because of their acts of disobedience, Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la brought them face to face with some of HIS servants who combined great might with strong determination. They overran those who had erred and spread corruption, completely subjugating them. *The king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, launched the attack on the kingdom of the Jews in 586-588 B.C. He completely destroyed the Jewish center, Jerusalem, so much so that he demolished the holy mosque.* _He killed thousands of Jews, and carried away countless persons as male and female slaves. This was the first calamity that came as a warning to the Israelites and the first chastisement that they suffered as a result therof._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that when the corruption becomes so rampant in a nation and transgression becomes a common entity then Allah Azzawajal causes its enemy nation to overpower it and causes the tyrants to rule over it. This is a very painful form of the Divine punishment.

—To understand the promise of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la which also applies to us if we continue to disobey HIS commands, the infidel nations will be let loose upon us and history is a evidence to this in recent times. Let’s take heed and mend our ways before it is too late.

This Ayah reminds us:

1. To recognize Allah Azzawajal’s power and authority.
2. To avoid disobedience and sin.
3. To appreciate Allah Azzawajal’s justice.
4. To learn from history.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la forgive our sins and grant us the ability to gain HIS pleasure through our Obedience. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 47 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (08 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 47. (The learned men) refer to Him (Alone) the knowledge of the Hour. No fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb), nor brings forth (young), except by His Knowledge. And on the Day when He will call unto them (polytheists) (saying): “Where are My (so-called) partners (whom you did invent)?” They will say: “We inform You that none of us bears witness to it (that they are Your partners)!”

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 47. To Him is referred the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out

of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), “Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?” They will say, “We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!” There are profound mysteries which the knowledge of man cannot fathom but which are all open knowledge to Allah, because He plans, guides and controls all things. The precise time of the Hour of Judgment is one of these. We are not to dispute matters like these, which are matters of speculation as far as human intelligence is concerned. Such speculations ruined the Ummah of Moses, and set them on the arid path of doubts and controversies. Our task is to do our duty and love Allah and man (see the last two verses). Cf. also 21:4. When the final restoration of true values comes, all falsehood will be exposed openly and publicly. The false gods will vanish, and their falsehood will be acknowledged by those who had lapsed from true worship. But it will be too late then for repentance.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Once we were sitting in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) when there appeared a man dressed in very white clothes and having extraordinary black hair. No signs of fatigue of journey appeared on him and he was known to none of us. He sat down facing the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) leaning his knees against the knees of the Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) and placing both of his palms over his two thighs and said, “O Muhammad ﷺ (PBUH)! Tell me about Islam”. He ﷺ (PBUH)replied, “Islam is to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah; that you observe Salat (prayers), pay Zakat, observe Saum (fasting) of Ramadan and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) of the House, provided you have resources of making journey to it.” He replied: “You have spoken the truth”. We were surprised to see that he had asked him and confirmed the correctness of the answers. He then enquired: “Tell me about Iman”. He ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said. “It is to believe in Allah, and His Books, and His Messengers and the Last Day and that you believe in fore ordainment, it’s bad and good consequences.” He said, “You have spoken the truth.” He then enquired: “Tell me about Ihsan.” He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “It is to worship Allah as if you are seeing Him; and although you do not see Him, He sees you”. He enquired: “Inform me about the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection)”. He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) replied, “I have no more knowledge thereof than you”. He said, “Inform me about some of its signs”. He ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “They are – that a bondswoman gives birth to her own master, and that you will find the barefooted, naked, poor shepherds competing one another in the construction of higher buildings”. Then he departed. The Messenger of Allah kept silent for a while then he said to me, “O `Umar! Do you know who the questioner was?” I replied, “Allah and His Messenger know better”. The Prophet   ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “He was Jibril (Gabriel); he came to you to teach you your religion”.

[Muslim Book 001, Chapter 001, Hadith # 001]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 47. (The learned men) refer to Him (Alone) the knowledge of the Hour” and Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 63. “People ask you (Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH).” concerning the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection), This Hadith is known as ‘Hadith Jibril’. It mentions the basics of Islam the details of which are known to every Muslim. Al-Qadr (Divine preordainment) means that Allah already knows and has recorded everything that will happen until the Day of Resurrection. Now whatever happens is in accordance with that knowledge and writing. What is meant by its good and bad consequences can be illustrated by saying that tranquility; prosperity and abundance of crops come in the category of good consequences. Famine, calamities and troubles, etc., fall in the list as evil consequences. But we regard them good or bad according to our own understanding; otherwise, every action of Allah has some wisdom and expedience which are known to Him Alone.

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 4

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 4_*

*_We declared to the Children of Israel in the Book: You will surely spread mischief in the land twice, and you will surely show great arrogance and tyranny.(4)_*

The Ayah highlights Allah Azzawajal’s decree about the children of Israel.‼️ *HE SWT had revealed to Musa (AS), as stated in the Torah, that the Children of Israel would cause trouble twice in the land of Palestine, so that HE SWT would mobilize their enemies to kill, plunder and destroy their land.* _’The book’ *الْكِتٰبِ* referred to here is *Lauh Al Mahfuz*. Everything that will happen is written there. It means that Allah already knows what they will do._ The Quran in many of its Ayaat alludes to the bad deeds of the Children of Israel such as killing the prophets, spreading bribery, usury and hiding the truth. Still from this Ayah it is stated, “You have become arrogant and have spread acts of tyranny.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the two words *fasaad فساد* means spreading corruption on earth against the commands of Allah Azzawajal and *uluww عُلُوًّا* means arrogant, haughty or considering oneself superior to others.‼️ _The Children of Israel who were previously under the rule of Pharaoh were saved by the Mercy of Allah Azzawajal. However, after being free, they spread corruption and evil on earth rather than remaining grateful for HIS blessings._

This Ayah reminds us:

1. To recognise Allah Azzawajal’s knowledge and power.
2. To avoid arrogance and disobedience.
3. The importance of obedience
4. To strive for justice and righteousness.
5. To learn from history regarding the behaviour of children of Israel and shun arrogance.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to learn from history and make us if HIS obedient slaves. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 46 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (07, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 46. Whosoever does righteous good deed it is for (the benefit of) his own self, and whosoever does evil, it is against his own self, and your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) servants.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 46. Whoever works righteousness benefits his own soul in this world and hereafter; whoever works evil, it is against his own soul and destroys his life in the hereafter, and your Lord Allah is ever unjust (in the least) to His Servants.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Masud Uqbah bin Amr Al-Ansari Al-Badri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH)  said, “Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action”. [Muslim].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 46. Whosoever does righteous good deed it is for (the benefit of) his own self, and whosoever does evil, it is against his own self”

The statement quoted in this Hadith was made by the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) when, on a certain occasion, someone requested him to give an animal for riding. The Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) replied that he did not have any. A man who was present there said that he could show him the man who could help him in the matter. This is how the Prophet ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) revealed the reward of directing people to good deeds, which is mentioned in this Hadith.

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 3

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 3_*

*_”(They were) Offsprings of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nuh (PBUH). Indeed, he was a greatful slave.”(3)_*

_After the Deluge of the time of Noah A.S., the only descendants of Noah A.S., were those who were saved in the Ark with him. They had special reason to celebrate the praises of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la. But they relapsed into idolatry, sin and abomination. They are reminded of the True and sincere devotion of Noah A.S., himself, as contrasted with the unworthiness of Noah’s (PBUH) descendants, especially the Children of Israel._

_This ayah, being addressed to the descendants of Previous Prophets, as; *”You are the descendants of Noah and his companions;”* therefore, you should behave in a manner as behoves such people. You should make Allah Azzawajal Alone your Guardian, for your ancestors escaped death from the flood only because they had made Allah Azzawajal their Guardian.”_ (Please read S17:A2-A10 also to understand about the rewards (twice) and punishment (twice) of the Children of Israel).

*_Act for the Day is:_* to understand the reasons for mentioning Prophet Nuh Alahis salam here in the Ayah is to remind the whole humanity as Prophet Nuh(AS) is the second father of entire humanity after Prophet Adam(AS) and he is being described as a monotheistic and a grateful slave. ‼️ Therefore the fundamental belief of our forefathers is Tawheed hence they shouldn’t make excuses for their deviation away from Tawheed.

–To always remain grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la for all HIS favours and blessings. *Prophet Nuh لسَّلَامُ عَلَيْهِ is being described as a grateful slave as he always praised Allah ﷻ when eating, drinking, dressing, and in all his actions.* _The lesson that we can take from the story of Prophet Nuh عَلَيْهِ ٍلَسَّلَامُ is that he and his followers were saved because he was very grateful to Allah ﷻ. So if we want to be safe, we should always be grateful for the blessings of Allah ﷻ and show gratitude verbally as well as through our Obedience._

Imam Ahmad reported that Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah SAWS said:

*_“Allah will be pleased with HIS servant if, when he eats something or drinks something, he praises Allah for it.”_* (This was also recorded by Muslim, At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa’i. Muslim 4:2095)

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain grateful to HIM through our Obedience and gain HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
