English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 25. Verily! I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me!”

Ayat 26. It was said (to him when the disbelievers killed him): “Enter Paradise.” He said: “Would that my people knew!

Ayat 27. “That my Lord (Allah) has forgiven me, and made me of the honored ones!”

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 25 to 27. “For me, I have faith in the Lord of you (all): listen, then, to me!” Again a transition from the assured personal conviction to the appeal to all to profit by the speaker’s experience. ‘I have found the fullest satisfaction for my soul in Allah. He is my God, but He is your God also. My experience can be yours also. Will you not follow my advice, and prove for yourselves that the Lord is indeed good?’ Ayat 26. It said: “Enter through the Garden.” He said: “Ah me! Would that my People knew (what I know)! This godly and righteous man entered into the Peace of Allah, typified by the Garden of Rest and Beauty. Perhaps it is implied that he suffered martyrdom. But even then his thoughts were always with his People. He regretted their obstinacy and wants of understanding, and wished even then that they might repent and obtain salvation, but they were obdurate and suffered for their sins as we learn from verses 28-29 below. Ayat 27. “For that my Lord has granted me Forgiveness and has enrolled me among those held in honor!” This man was just a simple honest soul, but he heard and obeyed the call of the prophets and obtained his spiritual desire for himself and did his best to obtain salvation for his people. For he loved his people and respected his ancestral traditions as far as they were good, but had no hesitation in accepting the new Light when it came to him. All his past was forgiven him and he was raised to dignity and honor in the Kingdom of Heaven.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked: “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH)! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?” He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) replied, “You should supplicate: Allahumma innaka `afuwwun, tuhibbul-`afwa, fa`fu `anni (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).”

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3513].

Lesson : Although no specific sign of Lailat-ul-Qadr has been mentioned in the Hadith, some eminent scholars have stated, on the basis of their own experiences and observation, that since angels descend on this night, one feels a peculiar tranquility and peace of mind and one is overwhelmed with a unique tenderness of heart. The night is neither very hot nor very cold but a temperate one. Similarly, the sun that rises on the next day is also not very hot etc. etc. Allah knows the truth of the matter despite all that has been said in this regard. In any case, on this auspicious night every Muslim should earnestly pray to Allah for the forgiveness of his sins with reference to His Attribute of Forgiveness.
