Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 63 & 64

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 63 & 64_*

*_They said: We have come to you with that [the punishment] concerning which they had doubts.(63)_*

*_We have brought to you that which is inevitably due [the punishment], and indeed we are telling the truth.(64)_*

The Angels inform Prophet Lut(AS) their purpose of visit.‼️ Prophet Lut(AS) always warned his people to follow and embrace the religion he had preached and acknowledge his apostleship. He kept warning them that if they continue to persist in disobedience, they will receive the wrath and punishments from Allah Azzawajal. This warning of their Prophet was taken by them for joke and they treated it with mockery. They didn’t believe in the oneness and power of Allah Azzawajal. They even challenged Lut(AS) to immediately bring down the promised punishment.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Divine punishment is always based on truth and justice.‼️ When a nation rejects their messenger despite knowing the truth of his message, the punishment of Allah Azzawajal (in principal) targets the entire nation. The whole nation was involved in the sin and failed the test. Except for Prophet Lut(AS) there was no one to condemn the wrong and advise them on good.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain firm upon Deen and save us from deviations and sins. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 59 & 60

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 59 & 60_*

*_except the household of Loot; we will save them all,(59)_*

*_except his wife. We decreed that she should be one of those who stayed behind.(60)_*

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la had sent these Angels for a mission to destroy the people of Lut(AS), hence they conveyed the orders of Allah Azzawajal to Prophet Ibrahim(AS) that they are proceeding towards them.‼️ *The people of Prophet Lut(AS) didn’t mend their ways and neither obeyed their Messenger and were destined to be destroyed.* Among the people who were to be destroyed was Lut’s(AS) own wife. While those who followed Lut(AS) will be saved from the punishment.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that each and every person is responsible for their own deeds.‼️ Hence Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la says in Surah Al-An’am

*_No one will reap except what they sow. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of your differences.(6:164)_*

Being the wife of a Prophet Lut(AS) didn’t provide any immunity from the punishment of Allah Azzawajal. She herself chose to go astray from the straight path and it is the sunnah of Allah Azzawajal that HE SWT doesn’t guide the one who himself wants to go astray.

Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Tahrim
*_Allah sets forth an example for the disbelievers: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut. Each was married to one of Our righteous servants, yet betrayed them. So their husbands were of no benefit to them against Allah whatsoever. Both were told, “Enter the Fire, along with the others!”.(65:10)_*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la guide us upon the straight path and grant us the ability to take measures from incurring HIS displeasure and wrath. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 57 & 58

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 57 & 58_*

*_Ibraheem said: Then what is your business, O messengers?(57)_*

*_They said: We have been sent to a wicked people [who are to be destroyed],(58)_*

After getting the news from tha Angels of having a child, prophet Ibrahim(AS) felt that this is not the only purpose of their arrival on earth in human form.‼️ *Appearance of angels in the form of humans can be for some important work only, and for that reason Prophet Ibrahim(AS) inquired about their important task further.* Then they gave the sad news and said; Yes, we were sent for the destruction of a community that was drowning in sin.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the fact that the angels did not name the people of Lut (peace be upon him) but merely referred to them as the *wicked people,* shows that these people had become so notorious for their wicked deeds that there was no need to mention them by name before Prophet Ibrahim(AS) who was well acquainted with the moral condition of all the people around him. (Refer Surah Hud, Ayat Nos. 77 to 83 also where this event has been described too.)‼️

—To understand that Homosexuality is the mother of all immorality. *Homosexuality is one of the most despicable crimes.* _Its character is such that it leads to a succession of other equally atrocious crimes. It violates the fitrah (human nature), treats with contempt religious commandments, works against the laws of nature, and establishes itself as an agent of falsehood and misguidance._ Therefore one can understand the gravity of the crime in the sight of Allah Azzawajal where HE SWT sent a group of Angels to destroy the township of such wicked people.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and save us from all sorts of sins and immorality. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 55 & 56

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 55 & 56_*

*_They said: We give you glad tidings in truth; so do not despair.(55)_*

*_Ibraheem said: Who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those who go astray?(56)_*

The Angels responded to Prophet Ibrahim’s(AS) exclamation that they are presenting him the news of truth and it is bound to come true and it is from the Lord of universe about he having a child at old age.‼️ *There is no wonder for old barren people getting bestowed with a child, it is all a Mercy from Allah Azzawajal and no one should be despaired and loose hope in their Dua’s getting answered.* _Prophet Ibrahim(AS) quickly cleared the thinking from their minds by saying he exclaimed for natural laws rather than getting despaired from Allah Azzawajal’s Mercy. He said only those people who have gone astray from the right path loose hope in the Mercy of Allah Azzawajal._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that a person whose heart is full of Imaan will never despair of Allah Azzawajal’s Mercy, no matter what hardship and difficulties he is called on to endure.‼️ *Even in the thickness of darkness and the gloom of adversity, they feel that Allah Azzawajal’s grace is close at hand. It will never fail to be bestowed.* _Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has the power to initiate the causes and bring about the results, changing the present and the future._ And it is only, those who have no knowledge of their Lord and HIS perfect power such are people who go astray and loose all hope. As for the one whom Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has blessed with guidance and great knowledge, there is no way he can despair because he knows that there are many ways and means for the mercy of Allah Azzawajal to reach him.

_Al-Bukhari (6469) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Indeed Allah created mercy, on the day He created it, in one hundred parts. Then He kept ninety-nine parts of it with Him and sent one part for all of His creation. If the disbeliever knew of all that there is with Allah of mercy, he would never despair of Paradise, and if the believer knew of all that there is with Allah of punishment, he would never feel safe from the Fire.”_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to constantly seek forgiveness for our sins and turn to HIM in sincere repentance as HE is Most compassionate and Most Merciful. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 54_*

*_He said: Do you bring me glad tidings when old age has overtaken me? What kind of glad tidings are you bringing me?(54)_*

The Ayah describes the response of Prophet Ibrahim(AS) to the good news conveyed to him from the Angels of having a son.‼️ *He was amazed to be promised a son when both he and his wife were in advanced years.* _It is in human nature that when a person hears something entirely unexpected but delightful and that too from unknown persons , the first reaction is expression of a joyful disbelief._ Prophet Ibrahim(AS) questions the guests about the source and authenticity of the their news in exclamation.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has the power to bestow the blessing on whomever HE wills. *HE SWT also has the power to create anything or create something that deviates from HIS own Sunnah.*‼️ _It is natural for humans to be amazed by extraordinary events, even if it is only a message. But one should develop a level of confidence in the attributes and power of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la that HE SWT is capable of everything._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to reflect and ponder upon HIS attributes and strengthen our Imaan. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 52 & 53_*

*_When they came to him and said: Peace. He said: Truly we are afraid of you.(52)_*

*_They said: Do not be afraid; we bring you glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge.(53)_*

The angels came to Prophet Ibrahim(AS) in human form and greeted the Prophet Ibrahim(AS) with greetings of *peace( سَلٰمًا)* and he too responded the greetings with *سَلٰمٌ*.‼️ As a host he hastened to honour the guests by offering them a roasted calf.

When Prophet Ibrahim(AS) served the guests with roasted calf he noticed that the guests didn’t move their hands to start eating the food. He had a strange feeling as to the reason for the guests not touching the offered food. When the guests entered his home they had sent the greetings of Peace, but still they refused to eat. *A feeling of fear arose in his mind for the same.* _As per the ancient Arab traditions and customs if the guest refuses to accept the food served it indicates an evil intention. The angels disclosed to him their identity and allayed his worries and gave the good news that they will have a son who will be knowledgeable._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that it is a greatest blessings to have a righteous children.‼️ Prophet Ibrahim(AS) in his old age was given the glad tidings of children who are going to be prophets.

2) From here we can know that *angels* are also called *messengers.*❗

3) Greeting is a very great sunnah. A Hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Ash RA who said: _A man asked the Prophet SAWS: Which Islam is the best? The Prophet SAWS said: “You feed, greet people you know and those you do not know”.(Bukhari)_
However, the response to the greeting must be more than the greeting given or at least equal to the greeting given. This is mentioned in Surah Nisa’:86, Allah Azzawajal says *_And when you are greeted, respond with a better greeting or at least similarly. Surely Allah is a ˹vigilant˺ Reckoner of all things.(4:86)_*

4) Receiving guests and offering hospitality to them is a part of the essential etiquette of Islam, in fact, a hallmark of high morals❗. *The host should, soon after the arrival of the guest, bring out something to eat, or drink, something he has on hand and which could be offered quickly and conveniently.* From [Abu Hurairah] from the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam he said: *_”Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good words or remain silent.” And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest .” (Sahih Bukhari)_*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to learn and abide by the etiquettes mentioned and earn HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 51_*

*_Tell them about the guests of Ibraheem,(51)_*

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la asks HIS Prophet SAWS to tell the amazing story to the stubborn disbelieving people who were demanding that angels be send to prove the truthfulness of his prophethood.‼️ *In response they are described about the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS who had the honour of receiving Angels as his guests.* They came with the news of glad tidings of Prophet Ibrahim AS having a second son Prophet Ishaq AS and as well as they came to punish the wicked people of Prophet Lut(AS).

__Now these two events are cited as two concrete forms of truth with which the angels came, as if to ask the disbelievers: Now decide for yourselves which of these two forms of truth would you want angels to bring to you. It is obvious that you do not deserve that truth which was sent to Prophet Ibrahim(AS). Do you then desire that truth which the angels brought to the people of Prophet Lut(AS)?_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the story highlights two important attributes of Allah Azzawajal one is *Mercy and the other is of HIS punishments*.‼️ The *aspect of mercy* is shown as giving the good news to Prophet Ibrahim alaihis salam about the birth of his son Ishaq alaihis salam. He had reached old age when the angels brought him this good news. So this good news is a great mercy! And the *matter of punishment* is that punishment was sent down on the people of Prophet Lut alaihis salam through these angels who came. [The incident is narrated in detail in Surah Hud (11:69-83)]

–Try to understand this delicate balance between hope and fear and how Allah Azzawajal’s mercy and wrath manifest at the same time, thus the Qur’an gives a historical example of this in this Ayah.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and get benefitted from the Quranic lessons. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 49 & 50

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 49 & 50_*

*_Tell My slaves that I am indeed the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.(49)_*

*_And that My punishment is indeed the painful punishment.(50)_*

This is an important announcement by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la through HIS Prophet SAWS to the persistent sinners that there is still hope of they being forgiven.‼️ Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la informs us of HIS two divine attributes that HE SWT is *Oft Forgiving and is Most Merciful* to HIS servants. which will help us attain Jannah. These two attributes are very important to us. If we have sins, then we need the nature of Allah ﷻ which is *غَفُورٌ Gafoor Most forgiving* otherwise, we will definitely go to hell to wash away our sins. Then if we want to enter the Jannah , then this requires the nature of Allah ﷻ who is *رَحِيمٌ (Raheem) “Specially Merciful”* because we will not be able to enter Jannah except with HIS mercy.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand as HIS slave that if Allahﷻ Oft-Forgiving and the Most Merciful, then we should not forget that HIS punishment is also most painful.‼️ *Remembering both these points would make life full of hope and fear.* When the slave of Allahﷻ understands the perfect nature of HIS mercy and forgiveness, they will strive hard, taking all measures that could lead them to attain HIS mercy, and they will give up sin and repent therefrom, so that they may attain HIS forgiveness. _However, hope should not let them get carried away and feel safe and secure from punishment, in fact there is no punishment except the punishment of Allah, of which no one could estimate the severity or understand the nature thereof. If they knew that they would be careful and would keep away from anything that could bring his punishment upon them:_ ..

*_None can punish as HE will punish on that day, and none can bind as HE will bind. (Al-Fajr 89: 25-26)-_*

So the individual’s heart should always be between *fear and hope;* when he thinks of the mercy, forgiveness, generosity and kindness of his Lord, that fills him with hope, but when he thinks of his sins and shortcomings with regard to his duties towards his Lord, that instils fear in him and makes him give up his sin.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and take measures to earn HIS forgiveness and Mercy and seek refuge from HIS wrath and punishments. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 47 & 48

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 47 & 48_*

*_We will remove all ill feelings from their hearts; they will be like brethren seated on couches facing one another.(47)_*

*_There no fatigue will touch them, nor will they [ever] be made to leave.(48)_*

These Ayat describe the society of pious people in Jannah.‼️ *When the Jannah is rewarded to these pious people they will have their hearts cleansed of ill feelings for their fellow brethren which would have occurred during their life on earth because of misunderstanding or confusion.* _If these wrong feelings still reside in their hearts, the purpose to enter Jannah will not be fulfilled. Jannah is not a place of disputes and suspicion. It is a place of all peace and security. Unlike the world where sometimes there is worldly prosperity, but loss of peace of mind or vice versa. Therefore, they will meet each other with such feelings of love and friendliness as if they are hand and glove._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the life of Jannah is totally different from the life of this world. The main thing that differentiates Hereafter from this world is that all material, spiritual, social and psychological blessings are eternal in Jannah.‼️ *No one shall ever feel tired or weak.* _This is contrary to what happens in our mortal world where hard work naturally results in fatigue. In fact, even a state of total rest and fun would sometimes tire a person out, no matter how enjoyable are things one is occupied with._ *What is of importance in this stage is the assembling of all blessings in one unit.* In this world one finds gardens in one place, while there may be no springs therein, sometimes there are streams to be found there but there is no security over there; at times all are present with together, though there may not be authenticity or sincerity furnished there. At times, it happens that all those blessings are coupled with different kinds of hardships and are tedious to obtain. At other times, when all blessings are brought together, one has to abdicate them all and leave them behind. *Therefore the other feature of Jannah we discover is that the blessings once received there shall be eternal.* These blessings shall never diminish nor shall anyone be expelled from there.

— Let’s make a strong resolve to earn Jannah. *Staying away from sinful deeds in this limited world will bring us eternal salvation.* Therefore, let us not sell the afterlife for this worthless world.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain in a state of submission to HIM and grant us a good ending with Imaan. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 43 & 44

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 43 & 44_*

*_And verily, hell is the promised destiny for them all.(43)_*

*_It has seven gates, each gate having its allotted share of them.(44)_*

This is the promised destination of the followers of shaitan.‼️ The shaitan right from the beginning of creation of first Human being till the last Day has only one goal that is to push the progeny of Adam(AS) into sins and disbelief. As Allah Azzawajal says
*_“but those of the sects (Jews, Christians and all the other non-Muslim nations) that reject it (the Qur’an), the Fire will be their promised meeting place.” (11:17)_*

_The purpose of relating the entire story is *to alert the human of his eternal enemy* so that they take measures to correct themselves and do not follow the shaitan who will ultimately degrade them to the lowest of the levels. In contrast, Allah Azzawajal has been so merciful that HE SWT has kept sending the reminders through the Prophets Alahis salam from time to time so that the Human race do not become the fuel for the fire of jahannam rather they achieve higher levels and make their way to the higher levels of Jannah. But it is a pity that the disbelievers take the Prophet SAWS as their enemy and the shaitan as their friend._

*_Act of the Day is_* to understand that we ourselves are responsible for our wrong deeds and not Shaitan; for, the most he can do is to beguile us from the obedience of Allah Azzawajal and hold temptations before us. It is, therefore, our own concern and responsibility to be beguiled or not to be beguiled by Shaitan.‼️

— To understand that *as there are levels of Paradise so also there are levels of Hell.* _Sinners will be divided into different groups in accordance with their different sins for their entry into Hell from seven different gates specified for each different sin. For instance, the group of atheists shall enter into Hell by one of the seven gates specified for their group. Likewise, mushriks, hypocrites, self-seekers, sensualists, tyrants, propagandists and leaders of disbelief etc. shall each enter into Hell through the gates specified for their group._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la save us from entering into Hell and grant us Hidayah and rectify our affairs out of HIS Mercy. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
